Lauren's passion for gundogs began in 2020 when she met her partner, Adam Kerr. Adam had grown up working Springer Spaniels alongside his grandfather, the late Norman Kerr, a highly successful handler who won the Springer Irish Championship in 1997.

After spending two years watching Adam train and compete with Labradors and Springer Spaniels, Lauren decided it was time for a change. She packed away 27 years of horses and purchased her first Labrador puppy from Adam's father, Nigel. For her 30th birthday, Adam also bought her a beautiful Browning game gun. With a new puppy at her side and a gun in her hand, the horses quickly became a thing of the past.

Four years on, Lauren has gained valuable experience working with a variety of Labradors. She has learned how to understand each dog's individual character, accept their flaws and build on their strengths, producing wonderful dogs for both the shooting field and the trialling circuit. Her work has benefited not only her own dogs, but those belonging to others as well.

In 2025, Lauren entered the field-trialling world for the first time. During her first season, she handled a dog named Cal who would go on to be her first Field Trial Winner, she then gained three further awards with a younger Labrador Ubo, and achieved numerous successes in summer working tests.

Lauren now has her sights set firmly on the future. Her ambitions include representing the England Gundog Team, qualifying for the IGL Retriever Championship and with the hope of making up her first Field Trial Champion.

Her journey from horses to gundogs has been shaped by hard work, determination and the knowledge and encouragement of those around her.

As Lauren believes:

'With the right people behind you, anything is possible'.
